Bank fraud zero liability notice
Lost money to online fraud? First call 1930 or file at cybercrime.gov.in. Then send this notice to your bank. Reporting within 3 working days protects your money under RBI rules.
To the Branch Manager and Principal Nodal Officer, [Bank name] Subject: Unauthorised transaction of [amount] on [date]. Request for zero liability credit. I am writing to report an unauthorised electronic transaction on my account ending [last 4 digits]. On [date], [amount] was debited without my permission. I did not share my OTP, PIN or password with anyone. I have reported this to the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930. Under the RBI circular on customer protection in unauthorised electronic banking transactions dated 6 July 2017, a customer who reports within three working days carries zero liability, and the bank must credit the amount within ten working days of notice. Please block any further debits, credit the amount to my account as a shadow credit, and confirm in writing within ten working days. [Your name]
